City to help new parents

THE City of Casey will offer ongoing support to new families in Cranbourne with the launch of antenatal and postnatal sessions later this month.
A drop-in support service for parents of babies up to the age of eight weeks will also be available for families.
“About 4000 babies are born in the City of Casey each year, so council is continuing to ensure vital services targeted towards these members of our community are available,” City of Casey Mayor Janet Halsall said.
“Becoming a parent for the first time, or even the second time, is a life-changing experience and can be very daunting.
“The sessions on offer provide a chance for parents to ask questions, meet other new parents and receive advice on other relevant family services from our qualified staff.”
The educational sessions, to be held on Tuesdays at Balla Balla Community Centre on Berwick-Cranbourne Road, will comprise of eight meetings, six before birth and two after.
Wednesday will be a drop-in day for parents of 0-12 week-old babies and will provide the chance for new mums and dads to ask questions about play, feeding, settling, wrapping and baby massage.
The drop-in support service will be held at Camms Road Maternal and Child Health Centre in Cranbourne.
