Fuel attendant foils robbery

A QUICK-thinking attendant foiled an armed robbery at a Narre Warren service station on Monday when he locked himself inside an office and raised the alarm.
Police said the robber had been armed with a carving knife.
Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Gaskan of Narre Warren CIU said police quickly arrived at the Shell service station at the corner of Princes Highway and Webb Street and used capsicum spray before arresting a man.
A man from Narre Warren was charged with five counts of armed robbery and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date. The latest foiled burglary comes after another recent incident at a Shell station in Berwick when a service station attendant locked himself inside with the robber before alerting police.
Nearby onlookers who witnessed both the incident and a vehicle waiting near the High Street service station alerted police, who arrested two men.
