Mac attack pays off for charity

BIG Macs are a big hit in Berwick.
That’s the fast-food fact after Berwick McDonald’s sold the eighth highest amount of Big Macs in Australia on McHappy Day last month.
More than 1600 Big Macs were sold – turning the golden arches of the Clyde Road restaurant into a gold mine for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
One dollar from every Big Mac sold on the day went to the charitable cause with more than $1.7 million raised across Australia.
Berwick McDonald’s owner Ian Seal said local residents should be proud they have donated their money towards the charitable cause.
“We are thrilled to have achieved the eighth highest Big Mac sales in Australia and thank all staff, volunteers, celebrities and VIPs for encouraging the community to enjoy a Big Mac and wear a wristband on McHappy Day to help seriously ill children,” Mr Seal said.
Berwick Fire Brigade members helped out during the day and were joined by several other community organisations in donating their time.
