Men in hardware hot water

TWO Hallam men have been arrested following repeated thefts from a hardware store in Cranbourne.
The men were apprehended on Wednesday last week after police found them hiding inside Hardings Hardware about 4am.
A 36-year-old man and 31-year-old man were interviewed and charged with burglary.
They were also charged in relation to other burglaries at the premises in the past six months.
Police said the thefts related to hot water services being stolen.
On Wednesday, 7 March, a hole was cut in the wall of the south side of the South Gippsland Highway building.
Police found Rinnai hot water services placed outside the building.
The hardware store was ransacked before the offenders returned to the point of entry.
Police said after further inquiries two men were charged with three previous burglaries at the same property in August.
The News reported Hardings Hardware was broken into for the third time in two weeks last August, costing the business thousands of dollars.
In each incident between seven and 10 hot water units were stolen.
At the time Senior Sergeant Bernie Kaminski from Cranbourne CIU warned there had been a spate of thefts of the hot water systems from near-completed homes and display homes a number of years ago, and the trend had begun again.
Sen Sgt Kaminski said the units were about the size of a small suitcase and easy to carry.
Two Hallam men were bailed to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 16 June.
