Narre set to sink Pirates

NARRE Warren’s Turf One side has to make 165 runs this weekend against Southern Pirates in the Dandenong District Cricket Association.
On an excellent day for cricket, Narre Warren lost the toss and was sent in to field on a flat batting track that had lots of runs in it and a lightning-fast outfield.
By tea, Southern Pirates were well placed at 2/128.
A lot of runs were there to be scored after tea with wickets in hand and Narre Warren needed to be on its game.
That is exactly what happened with John Simpson and Chris Jarrett bowling an excellent spell and picking up a string of wickets.
Jarrett was brilliant with the figures of 18 overs, 5/35. He was well supported by Chris Pentland, who finished with three wickets with John Simpson and Les Brown providing great support.
The Pirates were finally bowled out for 181.
Narre Warren then had to bat for 17 uncomfortable overs and lost Pentland for 1.
Dimitri Dimakopoulos (2) and captain-coach Wendell Perumal (12) were the not out bats with the score 1/16.

Narre Warren playing Southern Pirates at Wachter Reserve lost the toss and batted and was all out for 164.
Best of the bats were Mark Jensen-Schmidt, who batted well for 48, Martin Green 40 and Steve Woodward 24 not out giving good support.
With 10 overs to bowl, Pirates are 1/8 with Steve Woodward the wicket taker.

Hallam won the toss and decided to bat and was in trouble at 9/57, but with some lucky swinging and several dropped catches was all out for 144.
Best of the bowlers Brendan Jarman 3/31 and Ben Charles 3/56.
In reply, Narre Warren is 4/101 with Charles 27 not out and Omar Baker 26.

Narre Warren bowled first and spent a long day in the field with Sandown Park knocking up 235.
Best of the bowlers were Roy Huke, 21 overs, 2/66, Mick Van dam 12 overs, 2/44 and Vic Bradshaw eight overs 2/16.

Playing Fountain Gate at Maramba Primary School, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat.
It lost its first wicket at 22 and the third at 33, before Andrew Stevens and Steve Watson put on a 49-run partnership.
Stevens was out for 13 and Watson going on to make 46. Fred Besterwitch made 19 before Narre Warren was all out for 126.
Fountain Gate won by two wickets. Best of the bowlers were Shane Johnston 3/38, Greg Sealby 2/16 and Nicholas Howard 3/25.

Narre Warren hosted Endeavour Hills, batted first and amassed a huge total of 5/305.
Good knocks came from Greg Young (50 retired), Darren Spreckley (50 retired), Trav Green (50 retired), Graeme Rainer (51 retired), Tony Young (28 not out) and Gary Barclay (27).
Narre Warren dismissed Endeavour Hills for 84 with Darren Arter taking 3/1, Barclay 2/1 and Tim Kelson taking 2/18.

Playing Berwick away, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat and after 19 overs was 2/130.
All four bats made starts, James vanDam (16), Jake McKenzie (29), Christian Winship (17 not out), but it was captain Jarryd Leeworthy who came off best with 49 not out.
Berwick put on a good reply thanks to its middle order, but fell to good bowling by Chris Durst with figures 2/13 off five overs and vanDam also picking up two wickets.

Narre Warren bowled first and restricted Lyndale to 8/59 off 20 overs with Michael Morgan taking 4/10, Matthew Clarke 2/17, Trent Anderson 1/4 and Nathan King 1/12.
Narre then batted, finishing with 4/98 for a good win. Lashlan Jayasuriya (30) and Matthew Harding (30 not out).

Narre Warren lost the toss to Hampton Park and was sent into bat, however lost wickets too easily making only 56 runs off 19 overs.
Best of the bats were James Giertz (26) and Trent Morrison (10 not out). Best of the bowlers were Mitchell Arter (3/3) and Andrew Cook (2/14).
Hampton Park scored 109 to win the game.

Playing Lyndale, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat and its openers got off to a flying start to be 0/5 after five overs and 0/90 and at cc were 3/176.
Best of the bats were Dylan Quirk (25 not out), Jarryd Straker (25 not out), Jack Spreakley (27 not out) and Jayden Arter (27 not out).
Lyndale’s innings began badly losing its first four bats to be 4/46 after 10 overs and never recovered to reach 4/76 at cc.
Best of the Narre bowlers were Tim Vrevc (1/5), Kris Mertz (2/7) and Dylan Henry (1/7).

Playing Buckley Ridges, Narre lost the toss and was sent in to bat.
Narre Warren got off to a slow start only scoring 30 off the first 10 overs and with only 10 overs still to bat and wickets in hand, smashed 96 to finish with 126 after 20 overs.
Buckley Ridges never got into the game thanks to some tight bowling and great fielding.
A good win by Narre Warren. Luke Clarke (27 not out), David Santalucia (26 not out) and Jamayne Vancuylenburg (17 not out). Jacob Waller (1/5) and James Morrow (1/5).

Playing Berwick at St Francis College on a very lush ground Narre Warren kept Berwick to 31 runs from 20 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Ryan Quirk (3/1), Travis Johnston (1/2) and Mitchell Dempster (1/1).
Narre Warren then batted and after 20 overs had made 118 runs.
Best of the bats were Jayden Bosman (11), Michael Thompson (11) and Hayden Stagg (8).
