Reaching for the top

ENDEAVOUR Hills may be home to the next Australian Idol if Madison Pritchett gets her way.
The 16-year-old has sung all the way to the top 24 of the popular television series and performed last night (Wednesday) in a bid to get through to the final 12.
Viewers can vote for their favourite performer and Madison’s proud father, Joseph Pritchett, hopes local residents will get behind his daughter.
Mr Pritchett said Madison, a Mater Christi College student in Belgrave, was a trained singer who has been a member of the Qantas Australian Girls Choir for the past 10 years.
“She just loves music. The first thing she does when she comes home from school each day is to chuck down her school bags and get straight on the piano,” Mr Pritchett said.
“I would just really love to see everyone help out a local girl and vote her through.”
He describes his daughter as a pop singer who can write her own touching songs as well.
Mr Pritchett said he flew to Sydney to support his daughter during her big moment.
“Madison is the youngest singer left in the competition and we are just so proud. We are very proud that she is just a good girl, a nice kid,” he said.
Madison told the Australian Idol website that she was inspired to become a professional singer when she first watched Aerial in The Little Mermaid.
“I just fell in love with how beautiful she was and that was when it clicked… at about the age of six,” she said.
Madison said she enjoyed pop and house music the most.
“Pop is great to sing and dance to and people find it easy to relate to and house is great to listen to when you want to dance and have a good time,” she said.
