Ready for South America journey

By Jim Mynard
CASEY mayor Colin Butler honoured four Narre Warren P-12 College exchange students and two teachers with a mayoral reception at the civic centre on Friday 19 October.
He said they were leaving for a wonderful adventure across the world to discover a new culture, make new friends and re-unite with old friends.
“Narre Warren P-12 has twice hosted students from the Lord Byron Collegio at Arequipa, Peru.
“The school hosted 11 students in February this year and 12 young people last year.
“They lived with Casey families and went to school with their hosts to learn about our way of life.
“They also shared their culture, their language and their vision of the world with our community.
“We now say farewell to Kristie Jenner, Taylor Koevoets, Connor Heywood, and Laura Davies who will in turn travel to Peru.
“They will have two days in Lima, travel to Cuzco and climb to the ancient site of Machu Pichu before going on to Arequipa to join their host families and attend school at Lord Byron Collegia.
“They go as ambassadors for their school, the City of Casey, and Australia,” he said.
Cr Butler told the students to make the most of every second, keep open minds and open hearts and try everything they can.
He said two teachers, international exchange coordinator Gina Miller and Sue Paul, would chaperone the students.
