POLICE have issued a warning to all motorists to make sure their cars are registered or face a $550 on the spot fine.
The move follows a recent police blitz in the Endeavour Hills area that has seen many drivers nabbed for failing to renew their vehicle registration.
Senior Sergeant Mike Jenkins said random checks had revealed that many motorists were driving the cars with expired registration.
“People get their registration certificates sent out to them in the mail now and some are putting the sticker on and then forgetting to pay, or are not paying the bill,” he said. “So sometimes they have their new sticker on their car but when we check the registration on our mobile data terminals it comes up that they have not been paid.
“I really want to remind people to pay and keep track of when their registration is due otherwise they could face a fine.”
