Set your own homepage

Computer users may have heard of the term ‘homepage’ before but not quite known what it means. On the other hand, you might know exactly what a homepage is, but have been stuck with the same page ever since you signed up for the internet because you don’t have the knowledge to change the default to something you would prefer.
For those of you who don’t know what a homepage is, it is the page that opens on your screen every time you connect to the internet and open your web browser.
They come in very handy and you can set your computer to welcome you to your favourite sports website, news and media, or even your favourite web forum.
Many internet service providers automatically set up your machine to open their website when you go online, and many other websites have coding behind them to make their site the default to open.
Here is how you can quickly and easily set it to something you would like.
No matter which browser you are using, whether it be Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, or one of the many other alternatives, the process of changing your default homepage is quite similar.
Simply fire up your web browser and click on ‘Tools’ from the menu at the top. Now scroll your mouse down and select ‘Internet Options’ or ‘Options’ from the list. From here you should see a section that says ‘Home page’ and a box with an address in it.
If you are already at the site you wish to set as your homepage, simply press ‘Use Current’ and it will automatically set your default homepage to the website you are currently viewing.
Otherwise you will be required to enter the URL manually and you must know the full address or it will not work correctly.
Once you are done, simply press ‘OK’ at the bottom.
If you have a different browser, the steps should be quite similar to what is listed above.
Once you have successfully followed the guideline above, each and every time you connect to the internet your browser should automatically open to the new address you have specified.
Now you can be rid of your tiring old homepage and be welcomed to your favourite website without typing a thing.
