Students forge links

BERWICK’S Monash University has launched a new student society.
The Monash Marketing Students Society (MMSS) had its official launch recently and has urged marketing, public relations and advertising students to join.
MMSS publicity coordinator Tracey Williams said the new society was also seeking sponsorship from local businesses.
Ms Williams said the society would provide students with the opportunity to socialise and make new friends with their fellow university students as well as helping them make contacts with the industry.
MMSS is already well established at the Clayton, Caulfield and Peninsula Monash campuses, and Ms Williams said businesses and companies that sponsored the club would target young professionals aged between 18 and 24 years.
“Your business will be exposed to the Berwick staff and student population in several ways such as posters and banners that will entail your logo and business information,” she said.
As a small gift to new members, a showbag will be supplied to them upon membership sign up.
Ms Williams said they were seeking local businesses and companies to provide the new society with donations, discounts or vouchers to help fill their showbags with lots of goodies.
“Our vision is to establish ourselves as a credible marketing and public relations society in Berwick, and our ultimate mission is to provide our members with valuable industry experience, whether it be from industry speaker presentations or the chance to network with potential employers.
“We will offer social and educational events and activities for our members, such as the MMSS Annual Marketing Ball and MINDS Industry nights,” she said.
