Students tap master’s mind

EUMEMMERRING College art students recently met the man responsible for turning the Yarra River into a water wonderland.
Keith Tucker, creative producer for the Commonwealth Games Yarra River spectacle, visited the Year nine students at the Gleneagles Campus and spoke about his role in conducting the opening ceremony.
Many of the creative students shared their ideas with Mr Tucker and sought practical advice from the master himself.
Mr Tucker produced the entire river fish project with the help of his Megafun production company. He spoke about how he managed a team of 400 people to develop and produce the concept.
Eumemmerring art teacher Lyn Spooner said Tucker’s presentation let students see how real life examples of art could be integrated into the community.
“By being exposed to various professionals in the arts arena, we hope to encourage students to expand their concept and understanding of how art skills can be used and how art based studies can lead to interesting and rewarding career paths,” Ms Spooner said.
Gleneagles principal Sue Peddlesden said the campus is committed to giving students every opportunity to achieve success and provides experiences to encourage students to explore their aspirations and talents.
