Three sought after abduction attempt

By Callan Date
POLICE are hunting for three men who tried to abduct a woman in Doveton last month.
The 28-year-old bravely fought off her attackers with several kicks and punches after she was approached while walking along Frawley Road on Sunday 24 February.
The men, who were travelling in a white Subaru Liberty sedan, first began to make various verbal propositions to the victim about 1am.
Casey CIU Detective Sergeant Garry Kear said the men sounded the car’s horn several times while driving past the woman.
The men returned shortly after.
“They again pulled up next to her and a man got out of the back of the vehicle and tried to drag her into the vehicle,” Det Sgt Kear said.
A second man got out of the car and tried to help his accomplice during the struggle.
“Eventually both men let go of the woman, returned to the car and they drove off.”
Det Sgt Kear said two of the men appeared to be in their mid 20s.
One was wearing dark denim jeans, a dark blue hoodie-style jumper and blue T-shirt with white writing on it. He was wearing a black beanie.
The second offender is 170cmwith different coloured dyed spiky hair, of slim build and wearing a blue long-sleeved top.
Police said there were red stripes along both sides of the vehicle.
“Police are appealing for possible witnesses to this incident and are also seeking any information that may assist towards identifying any of the three males involved in the incident,” Det Sgt Kear said.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Det Sgt Kear on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
