Warming up to winter arts

CASEY people can warm up to the arts this winter with a range of events lined up for July.
Theatre, music concerts, dance and acrobatics are all on offer during Casey’s Winter Arts program next month.
There are also free activities to take part in, including ceramics and physical theatre through the Come and Try Art workshop held at Casey’s community centres, learning houses and the Old Cheese Factory.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford encouraged the community to come along to events in the fifth year of the program.
“The City of Casey has a vibrant and diverse arts community, from cultural dance troupes to award-winning visual artists,” Cr Bradford said.
“Residents can be part of the exciting events or try their hand at creating something new.”
Some highlights include a performance by local theatre company Adlib Entertainment who will perform Hansel and Gretel, Gee Whiz Kids will perform at the Narre Warren Library, and young acrobatic group Pyrobats will perform at Myuna Farm.
Concerts will also be held at some aged-care facilities by the Cranbourne Lions Concert Band, Cranbourne Chorale, Just Harmony, Berwick Youth Choir, Serendipity Concert Party, Casey U3A Singers and Eumemmerring College.
There will be concerts by Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda, Shivalayam’s Indian Dance and the Cranbourne Secondary College group Polyhood.
The final concert will be held on Saturday, 29 July at the Berwick Church of Christ. See www.casey.vic.gov.au/arts or phone Casey’s Customer Service Centre on 9705 5200.
