AN ELDERLY Narre Warren couple won’t be singing in the shower for a while after they discovered a water saving shower head is out of their reach.
Alfred and Norma Horn were excited to read in the News last week that South-East Water was offering new water-efficient three-star showerheads in exchange for older ones.
However, their delight turned to dismay when they were told the new shower head was only available from a centre in Moorabbin.
The elderly residents are limited in their ability to travel and will not be able to take up the offer.
But they may only have to wait a short while until they start saving water.
South-East Water spokesman Luke Enright said the company hopes to be able to organise local pick-up points within months.
Mr Horn said he was extremely disappointed he was unable to save water by installing a water-efficient showerhead straight away.
“It’s rather unbelievable. I think it’s in everybody’s interests to have a local place,” he said.
“All elderly people would be grateful for any assistance in obtaining a shower head.”
