NARRE Warren detectives are investigating a fire, believed to be deliberately lit, at a residential unit in Dorothy Street, Doveton, on Friday.
Police believe the fire started after a rear bathroom window was broken.
A Molotov cocktail was throw through the window, starting the fire, which spread through the unit. An occupant in another unit to the rear notified police.
The fire-damaged unit was locked and no-one was home at the time of the incident.
The fire caused damage with a repair bill estimated at $15,000.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time or may have information about the incident is asked to contact Det Sen Const Melissa Dixon at Narre Warren Criminal Investigation Unit on 9705 3114.
