A garden for all senses

BERWICK’S Old Cheese Factory has been given a facelife thanks to a donation from Bunnings Fountain Gate.
A range of plants was given to create a sensory garden that has been designed to appeal to people of all abilities and ages.
Narre Community Learning Centre is partnering with the council to make the garden a success.
The program has also received considerable support from Blairlogie and Kalimna Support Service with their participants completing work skills by taking part in the project.
Bunnings donated $200 worth of plants and also offered some invaluable horticulture advice from their trained nursery staff.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said time spent in a pleasant and relaxing environment could provide a range of health benefits.
“It is particularly engaging to people with a disability and ageing neurological disorders such as dementia,” Cr Butler said. “Council with the community can make a real difference to the quality of leisure and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.”
Anyone wishing to donate more plants or building materials can contact Casey disability leisure officer Barbara Sheppard on 9705 5200.
