Blown fuse cuts power

BERWICK residents were forced to bear the heat on Sunday after a fuse blew in the area, shutting off the power.
As temperatures reached more than 40 degrees, about 70 residents on Campbell Road and Palmerston Street went without power, some escaping their homes until power was restored on Monday morning.
Energy supplier AusNet spokeswoman Emma DaniellEdwards said a blown fuse was the cause of the power loss and residents had to be careful about the amount of appliances they used.
“Unfortunately hot weather as we’re experiencing at the moment has everyone cranking up the airconditioning and this does have an impact on the network,” Ms DaniellEdwards said.
She said AusNet crews worked tirelessly through the intense heat of the day and evening to restore power to affected residents.
The blown fuse was changed early on Monday morning.
Ms DaniellEdwards said AusNet wanted to apologise for the interruption and said the company understood the impact the power outage had on residents.
