POLICE have charged a teenager with several counts following the stabbing of a Narre Warren man at Safeway in Glen Huntly on Monday.
The 38-year-old Narre Warren man, a manager at the store, was taken to The Alfred hospital with non-life threatening injuries after confronting two youths about stealing from the store.
Police said two youths had been in and out of the store earlier that morning before a staff member observed them near a cash register in a vacant checkout just after 8am.
When confronted, one of the youths became aggressive and abusive and pushed and punched the manager in the stomach.
The manager later realised he had been stabbed, although no weapon was sighted.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with intentionally causing injury, assault with a weapon, assaults and attempted theft.
He was bailed to appear in the Children’s Court next month.
