EIGHT people were taken to hospital after two cars collided in Narre Warren on Sunday.
The collision occurred about 1am at the intersection of Narre Warren North and Ernst Wanke roads.
The driver of a Kia station wagon was trapped in the vehicle for more than an hour while CFA and SES crews worked to free her.
She was air lifted to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries.
The four other occupants of the Kia were taken to hospital.
The occupants in the second car, a black BMW, received injuries and were taken to hospital.
Narre Warren Senior Sergeant Gerry Hengel urged motorists to take care on the roads.
“This is another reminder for all our citizens to be wary and more careful on the roads,” Sen Sgt Hengel said.
“It’s disturbing to see the horrific injuries these people have suffered,” he said.
