Hampton Park powers in pennant

HAMPTON Park Bowls Club resumed after the Christmas-New Year break for a successful round 12 in division four of the RVBA pennant competition on Saturday.
The Parkers played host to the Dandenong Club and won on all four rinks by small margins.
It took all of 21 ends for Andrew Brandolin, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Geoff Ladner to catch their opponents to finish the game with a four-shot win (25-21).
Chas Hose, Fred McBrian, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield maintained a slim lead in the second half and won by three shots (24-21).
With a good lead early, then dropping a six before the tea break, Ray Wood, Paul Barna, David Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie worked hard to win on the last end by one shot (26-25).
Les Unwin, Alan Wilcock, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight led throughout the game and kept pulling away every time the opposition got close (29-23).

Hampton Park played at Noble Park and lost, winning on only one rink.
Bruce Pointon, Alan Unwin, Heather Naismith and skip Rob Woff played a good second half to win by one shot (21-20).
A poor start by Mark Paton, Greg Pentland, George Pettitt and skip Bill Webb made it difficult to bridge the gap (17-29).
The damage had already been done when Basil Pope, Pat Moevasa, Ann Westwell and skip Bob Nicol rallied towards the end (21-32).
Winning only eight ends made it impossible for Gerry Cox, Bill Tannahill, Ray Leggett and skip Keith Damon to catch the opposition (12-28).
Hampton Park 2/71 lost to Noble Park 16/104.
