CHALCOT Lodge Primary School had a visit from the Commonwealth Bank’s Addy to promote the student banking program.
Bank managers from the Endeavour Hills branch Steve and Anne escorted Addy as they visited classrooms to spread the good word about the importance of saving.
The students received show bags, pens, stickers and activity books.
Chalcot Lodge Primary School’s principal Kay Schlanger said they had been involved with the student banking program for more than 10 years.
“This year we have seven students registered for the banking program,” Ms Schlanger said.
She said the success of the program was seen in the ongoing participation by the school’s families.
“Many parents volunteer their time to process all the deposits,” she said.
“The program teaches children the importance of money and saving which can empower them for their future.”
The Commonwealth Bank’s general manager for youth brand and marketing, Martin Whelan, said the program was committed to providing students with the tools and knowledge they need to be financially equipped for a better future.
He said teaching children about the value of money and how to manage their money from an early age is one of life’s most crucial lessons.
“Providing student banking facilities also gives children the convenience of doing their banking at school and teaches them the principles of banking and money management.”
The Commonwealth Bank has been offering a school banking service since the 1930s and currently has more than 3000 schools involved within Australia.
