BUDDING writers have been urged to get writing before entries close for an inaugural writing competition.
The Narre Warren Lions Club short story and poetry competition aims to promote literacy and creativity.
It’s open to teenagers aged 14 to 18 years and adults in two sections.
Competition organiser Viv Teitel this week urged writers to submit their entries before the Thursday 31 August closing date.
Short stories of up to 2500 words and poetry of up to 26 lines must be submitted by 5pm.
“Thank you to everyone for getting their entries in, but I would like to encourage other people to enter. The more entries the more successful the competition will be,” Mrs Teitel said.
There is a limit to two entries per section and the fees are $10 per adult and $7 per teenage entry.
Monetary awards will be presented to first prize winners, vouchers for second prize and certificates for highly commended entries.
Prizes will be presented at the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick on Saturday 28 October.
