TWO local Liberal MPs have been promoted after a shake up of the State Opposition’s shadow cabinet last week.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region members Inga Peulich and Gordon Rich-Phillips both now have added responsibility in trying to keep the Brumby Government accountable.
The Upper House MPs represent a large area in the City of Casey.
Ms Peulich said she was thrilled with the recognition.
The former Eumemmerring College English and psychology teacher has been promoted to Opposition parliamentary secretary for education and communities.
“I am thrilled and honoured to accept my new role and I look forward to taking up the role of working for a better education system for Victoria and Victorian students and their families,” Ms Peulich said.
Mr Rich-Phillips has been given two new roles, finance and community development, to go with his existing information technology and assistant Shadow Treasurer responsibilities.
“I was pleased to do whatever Ted Baillieu asked me to do,” he said.
“It means that I have got responsibility for all the treasury matters within the Upper House,” he said.
Ms Peulich said: “Having an education background with 14 years of teaching in our public sector schools means that I have a good understanding of where the State Government is failing our children’s education.”
The new look comes after the Liberal Party joined forces with The Nationals last week in an attempt to win power at the next state election.
