Mixed day for Cranbourne RSL

IT was mixed results for Cranbourne RSL Bowls Club for its first games after the Christmas-New Year break with division-three losing to Pakenham and division-five downing Berwick.
Division-three team played Pakenham away and went down by 23 shots overall.
Terry Silberer, Barry Jones, Bill Bradbury and Ron Haskayne went to the wire with Pakenham winning the last end for a draw 24-all.
Greg Dore’s rink went down by four shots; Ryan Drummond’s team lost by 16 shots and Mal Watkinson’s team had a tight game all day, going down by three shots.
Division-five played Berwick at home and had a decisive win over the ladder leaders with a total overall score 124 to 76.
Best winning rink was Doug Ambrose team 35 to 12; B. Burgess team 32-17; Lindsay Coates team 29-19 and Bob Preston’s rink fought out a hard game to draw 28-all.

Pennant resumes this Tuesday, 23 January after the Christmas-New-Year break.
Ladies gala day was held last Sunday and described as a huge success, considering the inclement weather.
Teams came from as far away as Healesville, Korumburra and Corinella.
Winners of the day were Bill Bradbury, Maree Taylor, Sandra Wild and Graeme Wild winning all three games.
Runners were Doug Ambrose, Lorna Ambrose, Joy Power and Dave Power.
