Raiders turn to arson

FIRE and theft hit Narre Warren South P12 College in the one incident last week.
Police are investigating the crime, which caused extensive damage to a sheet metal classroom about 1.10am last Thursday.
Police were called to the school, at the intersection of Ormond Road and Amberley Park Drive, after a security alarm was activated in the technology wing.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a filing cabinet ablaze in a small room at the side of the classroom.
Police extinguished the fire, which they believe was deliberately lit, prior to the arrival of four CFA units.
Several tools were also stolen during the incident.
Police believe the thieves also used cement blocks to smash more than 15 windows in the technology wing, before throwing a number of large garbage bins inside the rooms.
The building was also ransacked, leaving a total damage bill of about $12,000.
College principal Ross Miller said school resumed as normal the same morning as the crime. “The site is secure. There was no disruption to classes. Arrangements have been made for students to continue their programs,” Mr Miller said.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or has any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
