NARRE WARREN resident Ruby Nicolaci, 19, will open her first art show, Ruby Concetta, at the Old Cheese Factory tomorrow (Friday) night.
The mystical-themed exhibition includes 28 pieces of artwork created by Miss Nicolaci since she first picked up a paintbrush in March this year.
A former pharmacy assistant, Ms Nicolaci said that after the tragic death of a young family friend she decided to spend her time doing something she loved.
“I was always good at drawing at school and mum wanted a painting made for our beach house so I thought I could do it. I haven’t stopped painting since then,” Ms Nicolaci said.
While her exhibition will showcase her acrylic painting and drawing talents Ms Nicolaci hopes to start working with oil paints. Ruby Concetta opens at the Old Cheese Factory on Friday night at 7pm and will continue until Sunday 17 November.
“I really want to try out oil painting, that’s what I plan to do next,” Ms Nicolaci said.
“I think that I’ll eventually do a course that has something to do with art. It’s something that I really enjoy, life is too short to spend your time doing something you don’t love.”
