Safety draft on show

CASEY residents interested in the council’s safety policies are encouraged to review the city’s Draft Council Road Safety Strategy.
The Casey Traffic Management Committee has developed the draft while the Community Safety Strategy has been developed by the Safer Casey Partnership.
Casey acting manager community safety Caroline Bell said the new five year strategies replaced the existing plans that were developed in 1999 and would guide the development of annual action plans.
“The results of these annual plans will now be measured quarterly to provide more timely and meaningful data to council and its partners to assist in addressing community safety issues,” she said.
Ms Bell said the two draft policies are similar to the council’s Municipal Fire Prevention Plan, with the accompanying annual plans and quarterly reports readily accessible on the Casey website.
“These draft strategies require a coordinated, community driven approach to help reduce the risk of harm to all residents.
“Community engagement can contribute significantly to reducing the incidence of harm and injury within the municipality and council will continue to work closely with relevant committees and residents to address local safety issues,” Ms Bell said.
Community feedback on the draft strategies is due by 18 August.
For a copy of the draft strategies visit the council’s web site at www.casey.vic.gov.au/-publicnotices or contact council’s Customer Service Centre on 9705 5200.
