Speak up about those bus trips

CASEY residents are being given the chance to comment on local bus services.
The feedback will form part of a review being conducted by the State Government.
Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky announced the review, which will also incorporate services in Greater Dandenong, last week.
Residents can attend two community workshops, which will be held in April in Cranbourne and Narre Warren, and also share their opinion via email and post.
“No one knows better than the people of Casey and Greater Dandenong what is required from their local bus services,” Ms Kosky said.
“This is why this review is structured around public consultation,” Ms Kosky said.
“The review will assess the effectiveness of bus services in meeting the needs of the local community.”
Local bus operators and councils will also be consulted as part of the review.
“Community feedback will be used as the basis for improvements to local bus services, which may include longer hours of operation, more frequent services or extended routes, introducing new routes or restructuring existing ones and improving linkages with connecting trains,” Ms Kosky said.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley welcomed the review.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the local community to help shape future bus services in this area,” Ms Graley said.
Written submissions are invited until Friday, 2 May and can be sent to: Casey/Greater Dandenong Bus Service Review, PO Box 2797, Melbourne VIC 3001.
For more information on the Metropolitan Bus Service Review program or to make submissions by email, visit www.doi.vic.gov.au/transport.
