CASEY cops have been ranked number one when it comes to supporting and managing its own people.
Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon was full of praise towards local members when she visited Narre Warren on Tuesday.
Ms Nixon said she had the recent pleasure of giving credit to the Casey Police Service Area (PSA) for finishing first in an internal audit.
When compared to the 55 other PSAs around the state, Casey excelled in areas of unplanned leave, excess leave, Ethical Standard Department complaints and Operational Safety and Tactics Training (OSTT) compliance.
Loss of time due to injuries and WorkCover claims were also down, meaning very few days have been lost to police officer injury.
Acting Superintendent Bob Hill said the results were a credit to the Casey PSA’s management team and highlighted a sharp turn-around from previous years.
“A couple of years ago we were amongst the bottom of the state in terms of injuries to members and other performance indicators such as WorkCover claims,” he said.
“We have a strong management team in Casey and in recent years we have strongly promoted a safety first culture with the welfare of our members being paramount,” Supt Hill said.
He said the Casey PSA would strive to improve upon the good results already achieved so the local community receives the best possible police service.
