Workshop to help men beat the blues

THE Casey-Cardinia Men’s Health Action Group is presenting a Beating the Blues one-day workshop to help men explore some practical strategies to manage depression.
City of Casey director community services Jennie Lee said the workshop followed on from the successful Beating the Blues Forum held in last month, which was attended by more than 400 men and their families.
“I encourage men prone to depression to book their place in this terrific workshop, which will help them in beating the blues, find out more about depression and help them to improve their lives,” she said.
The workshop will enable participants to:
* Meet other regular blokes who experience depression;
* Learn to recognise the signs, symptoms, triggers and trends;
* Understand from a local general practitioner how your brain and medication work;
* Experience first-hand some of the natural therapies, such as exercise and nutrition;
* Enjoy the male-friendly environment with no pressure, judgements or distractions; and
* Develop a strategy to get on top, stay on top and live life to the full.
Bookings are essential.
To book contact City of Casey’s men’s programs officer Rob Koch on 5990 8333 or Cardinia-Casey Community Health’s men’s health worker Andrew Gabriel on 9212 5700.
The workshop will be held from 9am to 4pm this Saturday, 26 November, at Casey ARC, Overland Drive, Narre Warren.
The cost is $10 per person including lunch.
