Abraham case adjourned

FORMER Casey councillor Roland Abraham will front court in June after his case was adjourned for a second time last week.
Mr Abraham appeared in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court last Thursday charged with attempt to obtain financial advantage by deception and making and using false documents in relation to the alleged alteration of an email presented to the council last year. The former Four Oaks Ward councillor sat in the public gallery during the brief proceedings and watched on as his solicitor sought an adjournment.
Mr Abraham will reappear in the court on Thursday, 22 June for a contest mention. His legal representative argued the defence needed more time to access the hard drive of Mr Abraham’s former council computer and to obtain copies of four council officers’ statements presented to police before charges were laid.
Narre Warren police gained the hard drive via a search warrant last year.
The charges relate to a incident in which Mr Abraham presented the email to Casey Council in support of his request to have a university course funded by the council. The email, sent from Ballarat University, supported a claim for reimbursement of costs for a $3600 university course.
