THE City of Casey is in the middle of a $20 million spending spree to improve local roads. Under half of council’s $42 million allocated for capital works program has been committed to the construction of local roads.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said council recognises the importance of continually improving the local road network to make sure Casey’s roads are safe and also to help enhance the flow of traffic throughout the municipality.
Some of the local road construction projects include:
* Glasscocks Road construction, Narre Warren South – Due to be completed by June 2007. This project involves construction of Glasscocks Road from Clyde Road to The Promenade. When complete Glasscocks Road will be linked to Clyde Road at a signalised intersection.
* Pound Road turning lane construction at Kilberry Boulevard, Narre Warren South. Tenders have been called for the construction of turning lanes at Pound Road and the intersection with Kilberry Boulevard.
* Pedestrian signals on Heatherton Road near James Cook Drive, Endeavour Hills. Tenders have been called for the installation of pedestrian signals at this site.
