Dropped catches set to cost Cranbourne

CRANBOURNE Cricket Club’s Turf One match started badly in the field, dropping two chances, which cost dearly as the Springvale South opener went on to make 109.
After lunch Cranbourne turned to its two old warhorses in an effort to stem the runs.
Matthew Moore finished with the outstanding figures of 5/75 off 19 overs while Steve Miller toiled hard all day from one end, taking 3/109 off 25 overs of cunning spin bowling.

Once again the ladder-leading Cranbourne side has proved its place.
Opener Jim Alister (73) was the backbone, while talented young opener Dean McDonnell hit 56.
Veterans Dieter Leinmueller (36) and captain Rodger Alister (50) made the most of things in the middle order while Chris Brady flayed the ball to all parts on his way to 35 late in the day.

In the reply, Cranbourne dismissed both Narre Warren openers before play was stopped.

Wickets then fell regularly with Keeran Braham finishing with 4/14 from 10 overs.

Cranbourne made the runs easily with opener Kevin Lindsay (40), hard-hitting batsman Matthew Weller (30) and Dave Dinger (25 not out) all finding touch.

In Murray Pratt’s 350th senior game, Cranbourne slumped to 3/25.
Silvio Marinelli then stood up and made sure Murray would not forget this game, making 114, which included 14 boundaries.
Pratt’s son David made 68 in 15 overs and captain Michael Randall (56) returned from injury, while Pratt himself made 24.
