Feast of medals for Sharks

THE Casey Tiger Sharks nabbed a swag of medals at the bi-annual Casey Encouragement Event at Cranbourne Indoor Pool on Saturday night to continue the club’s domination of the Victorian swimming scene.
The meet attracted 165 athletes and 19 clubs from all over Victoria and the Tiger Sharks won an incredible 81 medals from the 198 on offer, including 24 gold, 29 silver and 28 bronze.
Ten-year-old Matthew Charlesworth headlined the performance with a haul of four gold and two silver medals among 28 other medallists.
While the Tiger Sharks’ efforts were impressive, the day was about encouraging more participation in the sport and striving for personal bests.
Tiger Sharks media and publicity officer Jo Helm said there were many personal bests and a couple of the littlies got their first medals.
“All the kids had a ball, which is what it’s all about,” she said.
