FLY set to take off

By Kelly Yates
CHISHOLM students are rolling out the red carpet for the official launch of FLY magazine at Berwick’s new wine bar and restaurant, Eighty One.
The student magazine will be launched on 5 May by novelist and former coordinator of the Chisholm professional writing and editing course Liam Davison.
The free event kicks off at 7pm at the High Street venue with drinks and finger food available.
FLY magazine is a student publication, in its 10th year, produced entirely by the professional writing and editing students in the small press class at the Berwick campus.
The magazine is a Wishbone Press publication showcasing the writing and editing abilities of aspirating writers in fiction, non- fiction, poetry and photography.
Marketing team student Emma Bisland, 20, said producing the magazine gave students the opportunity to get their work published.
She said it also gave the 13 students involved with producing the magazine an overall idea of the publishing industry.
“We as a team do everything ourselves.
“It’s a lot of fun, but stressful at times,” she said.
“The magazine is full of variety. It’s not only for young people; we have people of all ages contributing to it.”
Copies of the magazine will be available on the night.
For further information about the launch please contact the professional writing and editing small press team on 0409 535 398.
