GUESTS from Rotary and Inner Wheel joined Berwick Soroptimists for the annual International Women’s Day meal at Castellos in Berwick on Saturday.
Proceeds from the occasion went to St Vinnies at Pakenham and to the Soroptimist International project Hands Across Borders.
Keynote speaker Hazel Maynard, a volunteer for not-for-profit organisations for 18 years, told the audience that although most volunteers were aged over 50, a large number were in the 25-35 age group.
Australia’s volunteers are worth $65 billion, the group heard. Soroptimist International is a women’s service club whose members create and fund local and international projects. Thirty-seven people attended Saturday’s meal.
