A BERWICK secondary college’s innovative teaching methods have attracted some interstate visitors.
Kambrya College had the pleasure recently of welcoming Andrew Cappie-Wood, the newly appointed director-general of education from New South Wales, and Tracey Hayne, a principal liaison officer, also from New South Wales. School principal Ian McKenzie said Mr Cappie-Wood had visited the school to look at its innovative middle-years teaching and learning practices for which Kambrya College was renowned.
Mr McKenzie said the director-general visited some classes, which have been using teaching coaches.
The school will soon extend this new program across the College from year seven to year 12, with each class having two teachers supporting students.
Students from years seven to 11 were also interviewed by Mr Cappie-Wood about their experiences and time at Kambrya.
