Kids catch science bug

A BUDDING Einstein or Newton may be in the making at Doveton Heights Primary School after National Science Week sparked students’ curiosity last Thursday.
The eager students learnt about natural energy by flying kites, were amazed at the wonder of light and colour through the magic of a kaleidoscope and cooked up a scientific storm in the kitchen.
Students were divided into different age groups and encouraged to interact with children from different classes in the organised activities.
Assistant principal Jason Wood said the experiments were designed to encourage the students to take a hands-on approach in learning about science.
“We really wanted to make science fun for the students and make sure they enjoyed the practical experiments,” Mr Wood said.
He said the science day was just one of the many different activities the school organises to coincide with the respective national week themes.
