SCHOOL children are being encouraged to visit the Casey Road Safety Education Centre these school holidays.
The Cranbourne East centre is open through the holidays and is aimed at increasing road safety awareness and bicycle safety for children aged from five to 12.
Casey mayor Janet Halsall said all Casey families were welcome to visit the centre.
“The Casey Road Safety Education Centre promotes learning about road safety in a fun, controlled and positive learning environment,” she said.
“The centre is a mini version of Victorian roads where kids and their parents can enjoy riding and walking around the track, negotiating roundabouts, stop signs, give way signs, a railway crossing and school crossings,” she said.
Many Casey children visit the centre as a part of organised kinder or primary school programs and the school holiday program will give them the chance to put their new skills into place.
Caseyville, the City of Casey’s community safety game, can also be played, and there are videos in a classroom environment. There are also giveaways, prizes, colouring competitions and other fun activities for children and their parents to take part in.
Mr Tortoise, the Safestart Mascot and Walking School Bus Mascot, will also be in attendance.
