LITTLE ATHLETICS

HAMPTON PARK
HAMPTON Park athletes competed with many others from various clubs in Run with the Stars recently. Among the finals winners were under-11 Chris Tucker, who took second place in the 200 metres final for boys and girls and under-eight athlete James Schubach, who took second place in the 100 metres final for boys and girls.
James Schubach also broke a nine-year-old club record in the 700 metres walk with a time of 4:59.27, bettering his personal best of 5:07.94 and the existing club record of 5:01.68.
The Christmas breakup is this Thursday night at training and there may be a special appearance from Santa at Cairns Road Reserve, Hampton Park (next to the secondary college) at 5.45pm.
Competition recommences on Saturday, 21 January and training resumes on 19 January.
NARRE WARREN
NARRE Warren little athletes enjoyed their second twilight program for the season on Friday night. The weather was kind and the athletes achieved fast times on a firm track.
On Sunday many Narre Warren athletes competed in the State Relay Championships at Olympic Park and, although they did not gain any medals, they competed brilliantly and the club is proud of their efforts.
Training will be at Max Pawsey Reserve, Fountain Drive, Narre Warren on Thursday 5-6.15pm.
Saturday is the last day of competition for the year. The club will be holding a Christmas breakup after the program and invited all Narre Warren families to stay on for a barbecue and a visit from Santa.
HALLAM
The second twilight meet for the season brought ideal conditions for the athletes to obtain many personal bests. Under-15 boy Luke Sheppard smashed the 1500-metre record by 0.25.15 seconds and just missed out on a Dandenong Centre record.
This week is Hallam’s turn at the fundraising barbecue. This is the last program before the Christmas break and the committee would like to wish everyone a safe and merry time.

CRANBOURNE
Saturday was multi-event day and windy conditions didn’t hamper the athletes. Medals were presented to the top three overall point-scoring athletes and ribbons were presented to all others. Many personal bests were achieved as well and certificates will be handed out this week. Many thanks to all parents who helped on the day. This week is the final meeting before Christmas and Santa could be arriving sometime during the morning. All families should bring a donation for the Christmas hamper raffle.
