POLICE seized 15,000 ecstasy tablets, 50 grams of amphetamine, steroids and a pistol from an Endeavour Hills house last Thursday.
A 36-year-old Endeavour Hills man was arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence and firearm offences.
The local raid was one of several warrants executed across Melbourne as part of a five month investigation targeting a group of people alleged to be dealing various drugs in Melbourne nightclubs and entertainment venues.
Victoria Police Drug Taskforce detectives conducted the raids.
Four other men were also arrested during the raids on properties in Rowville, Mulgrave, St Kilda and Roxburgh Park.
All five men are expected to face court at a later date.
The Head of the Drug Taskforce, Detective Inspector Steve Smith, said they were pleased to have disrupted a network allegedly channelling a range of illicit substances into the pockets of young people frequenting Melbourne’s nightclubs and entertainment venues.
“Teenagers venturing into Melbourne’s nightlife are putting themselves at risk with such drug use,” Det Insp Smith said.
“Reducing the number of drugs available lessens the potential for drug overdoses as well as minimising other dangers associated with such drug use.”
