Poetry presentation among friends

By Melissa Meehan
A SPECIAL award night for winners of the annual Friends of the Doveton Library Incorporated Young Writers Competition was held on Tuesday 13 November.
The winners and their families were invited to attend a special presentation at Doveton Library where entrants read aloud their winning short stories and poetry.
President Connie Newman and Vice-President Maria Harding then presented winners with their prizes and certificates.
This competition is held annually and is open to 8 to 15-year-old residents in the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire.
This year more than 100 entries were received making it a difficult but enjoyable task for judges Maria Harding, Colleen Thorne and Jellie Wyckelsma to decide the winners.
Community engagement officer for the Casey Cardinia Library Corporation Cenzo Fulco congratulated all entrants and praised this year’s winners.
