Real life history lesson

– Kelly Yates
THE spirit of Anzac Day was alive in Endeavour Hills with more than 100 people turning out to yesterday’s touching service.
Organised by the Dandenong RSL sub branch and the City of Casey, the memorial service for Anzac Day took place at the Endeavour Hills War Memorial.
Local students from St Paul Apostle South Primary School, Maranatha Christian School and Oatlands Primary School gathered for the 1pm ceremony to pay their respects to those who served with the Australian Defence Force.
The event was too much for one of the young flag bearers who fainted and had to be carried out through the crowd.
Ex-service personnel along with their families joined the local community and the RSL for the service of remembrance with members of the Navy, Army, Air Force and the Australian Air League Cadets also attending.
Local, federal and state MPs Luke Donnellan and Anthony Byrne were present for the ceremony with City of Casey major Janet Halsall being the guest speaker.
