Tributes flow for Scotch student

TRIBUTES have been flowing in since the death of 13-year-old boy Nathan Francis.
It is believed the former Endeavour Hills resident died last Friday after suffering an allergic reaction to peanuts while he was on a Scotch College school camp.
Nathan’s father, Brian Francis, was a former City of Berwick councillor who represented the Endeavour Hills area in the early 1990s.
Principal Gordon Donaldson issued a statement saying Nathan was a “hardworking, enthusiastic, conscientious and diligent young student.”
Nathan received immediate medical attention from the camp and was evacuated by road and air ambulances to the Royal Children’s Hospital, the statement said. He died a short time later.
Casey councillors at Tuesday night’s council meeting paid their respects to the Francis family.
A motion was moved to provide a wreath or donation to a chosen charity at Nathan’s funeral.
A service to celebrate Nathan’s life was will take place at 12pm today (Thursday) at Scotch College’s Memorial Hall.
Dr Donaldson said a thorough inquiry into the circumstances of Nathan’s death is currently taking place.
Nathan is survived by his parents Brian and Jessica and brother Justin.
