Web makes volunteering easy

VOLUNTEERING in the City of Casey has never been easier now an innovative web-based program is up and running.
The Casey Volunteer Matching Service has been revamped to better address the growing need for volunteers in Casey.
The program is fully automated and allows both volunteers and volunteer groups to register their details, entering their specific requirements in their volunteering activity.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said the program was a quick and simple way for residents wanting to volunteer to get in contact with local groups, while also providing a source of recruitment for volunteer organisations.
“This exciting new program is designed to assist in the growth of volunteer participation in Casey through facilitating communication between volunteers and volunteer groups,” Cr Halsall said.
“The program allows volunteers to register their details and enter their skills from a list provided, while also urging them to enter the areas in which they wish to contribute.
“This information is then sent to registered volunteer groups who have expressed a need for volunteers with similar skills, who proceed to contact that volunteer through the service.
“The Casey Volunteer Matching Service is an excellent community resource, and I encourage all current and potential volunteers, plus volunteer groups, to utilise it so that we can add to our already strong volunteer base.”
The service can be accessed via Casey’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au/volunteers.
Users can then simply follow the instructions to register either as an individual or an organisation.
Volunteers and volunteer groups who are registered with the previous matching service are encouraged to take this opportunity to update their details.
