Microsoft officially launched its new Windows Live Messenger service on Monday, and it is the first of more than 20 new services to be released as a part of the new Windows Live service.
Microsoft has described its new Windows Live Messenger service as follows:
“Windows Live Messenger Beta is the next-generation MSN Messenger.
“It has everything you already love about Messenger — your contact list, emoticons, and instant access to your friends via text, voice, and video — plus new ways to connect and share documents with almost magical ease.
“As always, it is free to download Messenger and use most of its features.”
Microsoft’s Windows Live service as a whole is intended to eliminate the need for installing software, eventually offering services such as email, instant messaging, online shopping, and even an online version of the Office suite, all of which are tightly integrated with one another.
In a nutshell, Windows Live will be a one stop shop containing everything a user could ever need online, all accessible via a web browser from anywhere in the world.
