Drive on down to motorkhana

ON Sunday, Pakenham Auto Club will hold a Multi Club Motorkhana at Rutter Reserve in Tooradin.
This will be the club’s third motorkhana at the venue this year and will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to familiarise themselves with the conditions.
Pakenham Auto Club will also host the Victorian Championship round this year.
A junior come and try day will precede the motorkhana, which is a great opportunity for juniors over 11 years of age but under 18 to learn basic car control skills in a controlled and safe environment.
Juniors wanting to participate should arrive at the venue at 8.30am and a parent or guardian must accompany them.
A comprehensive briefing on safe participation will precede the driving program, which will include negotiating motorkhana tests under supervision.
The tests are designed to improve driving skill and car control in a low speed environment.
The come and try will conclude about 10.45am.
Juniors and their parents and guardians are welcome to stay on and compete in the motorkhana.
It will consist of at least eight tests and will finish about 4pm.
There will be categories for juniors 12 years to under 15 years old, juniors 15 years to under 18 years old, and adults.
Motorkhana participants must be a member of a CAMS-affiliated club and hold an appropriate CAMS licence, both of which can be organised on the day if necessary.
The club will have both manual and automatic cars available for juniors to use for the come and try and motorkhana if they do not have access to a car themselves.
A fee will apply for the use of club cars in the motorkhana.
Further details and entry forms are available from the club’s website, www.pakenhamautoclub.org.au.
