Investigation set to come to a close

THE Local Government Victoria investigation into the City of Casey Council is set to wind up early next week.
A spokesman for Local Government Minister Richard Wynne said it was clear the council wasn’t functioning as effectively as it should be.
“The Minister has sent in two very senior people from Local Government Victoria and they will sit down with the mayor (Janet Halsall) and CEO (Mike Tyler) and find out what is going on,” he said.
He said they would then report back to Minister Wynne with their findings.
“Clearly there are concerns that have been raised to the Minister by members of the public and by councillors.
“The Minister is taking action to make sure that the City of Casey Council is doing what the City of Casey Council should be doing,” the spokesman said.
The City of Casey did not respond to questions before the News went to press.
