Councillors slam motion

A POO attack on a councillor’s home has been slammed by Casey councillors.
They have united in their condemnation of the smelly situation which left councillor Michael Farley to clean up the mess at his Narre Warren home.
The disgusted councillor said this was the first time an incident of this nature had occurred during his four year stint on the council.
The News reported last week that Cr Farley discovered the faeces dumped on his front doorstep on Monday night.
Councillors contacted by the News this week said the incident was a “cowardly act.
Cr Farley said this was the first time an incident of this nature had occurred during his four year reign on council.
Councillor Paul Richardson said he had found some broken egg shells next to one of the windows at his home 12 months ago.
Councillors Kevin Bradford and Lorraine Wreford denied receiving any threats.
“You can’t get paranoid because you don’t know if it’s a deliberate act or just a prank,” Cr Bradford said.
“You would like to think that the residents know that councillors are doing there best for the community.”
Cr Farley said he didn’t know why anyone would do this to him.
“But involving my family like this is unacceptable,” he said.
Police said it was uncommon to find faeces dumped on a resident’s door step and will be patrolling the area regularly.
Cr Farley believes the attack was deliberate and calculated.
“If people think this will make me quit council they should think again. Situations like this only make you stronger and I will not let them beat me,” he said.
Councillor Steve Beardon said this incident added a new meaning to passing a motion at council.
