Residents can test the water

CASEY residents have a chance to shape the direction of water use in their area.
South East Water is offering households the opportunity to be involved in a program which will provide free water-saving advice and help shape future water conservation initiatives.
Households participating in the 12-month WaterSmart program will be guided through a process of water assessments, specialist mentoring and product and service information.
Participants will be required to complete a survey at the beginning and end of the program and South East Water will keep in touch with them with a follow-up phone call every three months.
More than 100,000 households from across Melbourne and regional Victoria will be invited to participate in the $6 million WaterSmart program, a State Government initiative delivered by South East Water and other Victorian water businesses.
South East Water general manager of customer service Murray Goddard said nearly 36,000 customers from 14 suburbs would be involved in the program, the largest behavioural change study of its kind in Victoria.
“Our customers have done a fantastic job saving water over the last few years and have responded well to the challenges that lack of rainfall and reduced reservoir levels bring,” he said.
“The WaterSmart program will enable us to help our customers by developing and improving our water conservation initiatives. Selected households will represent a cross-section of our service area, so the information gathered from all types of households will ensure new water saving information is more tailored to suit individual households’ needs.”
Residents interested in participating can contact the WaterSmart team on 9508 6099.
